Quick Guide Instructions:

PREPARATION

To prep the surface for Cabinet & Furniture - Primer:

  1. Clean cabinets with a heavy-duty degreaser like TSP.
  2. Rinse with warm soapy water and let dry.
  3. Sand old cabinet doors, face frames, and drawer fronts using 180-220 grit sandpaper or a maroon/green Scotch-Brite pad.
  4. Ensure cabinets are dry before sanding and use a cloth to wipe away dust.
  5. Light sanding reduces gloss from the previous finish, promoting a strong and durable bond in the long run.

APPLICATION

Methods of Application: Brush, Roller, or Paint Sprayer.

Before using, thoroughly stir the paint with a stick. Apply 1-2 even coats of Cabinet & Furniture Primer as required for coverage. Allow the first coat to dry completely for 1-2 hours before applying a second coat, if necessary. When dealing with new wood or transitioning from a darker to a lighter cabinet paint color, it is advisable to apply a second coat of primer to seal in wood tannins. To eliminate any imperfections or contaminants, gently sand the previous coat using 220 grit sandpaper or a maroon Scotch-Brite pad.

Application Process:
  • For applying primer to routed or 3D details of a cabinet door or the intricate perimeter of a drawer, and the sharp corners of the face frame, utilize an angled nylon paint brush. Keep from overloading the fine details with paint. See our tutorial on our YouTube channel for detailed video instruction. You Got This!
  • Use a ⅛’’ Nap Microfiber roller to apply Paint Color to the flat sections of the cabinet doors, drawers, and face frames. Use your roller length of choice, 4’’, 6’’ or 9’’

CLEAN UP

Remove all paint splatters and drips. Wash all brushes, rollers, and equipment immediately with warm water, use dish soap if desired.

Pro Tips & Steps you can follow when painting cabinet doors:

  1. Label all your doors and cabinets for easier reassembly of the project
  2. Clean the doors with a degreaser
  3. Sand thoroughly
  4. Clean well
  5. Use a brush to apply a light coat into all the molding edges
  6. Roll on paint color onto flat surfaces
  7. Paint the backs, wait them to dry, and then paint the fronts
  8. Use the drying time in between coats to paint the insides of the cabinets
  9. It's recommended to wait at least 48 hours before reattaching cabinet doors and hardware after painting. This gives the paint time to fully cure. You should also check for tackiness, as dry time is affected by the humidity.
