If you are doing a Wood Slab you will need to seal with a thin layer of Stone Coat Countertop Epoxy before the flood coating. We use 1oz per Square Foot to SEAL wood slabs. We like to apply 2-3 seal coats on raw wood slabs before we apply our Flood Coat. MDF needs no seal coats. We like to sand and polish our slabs and countertops to bring them to the most high end look and feel possible. This is optional and many customers are happy with their results without the extra work.

Epoxy Gallon Kit: Step-by-Step Guide

Start with two layers of epoxy undercoat sanding and cleaning in between. Once you’ve poured out two layers of the epoxy undercoat, you can start your color coat of epoxy.

Use the white metallic to cover most of the countertop and then veins of black epoxy to marbleize the design to your own desires and specifications. By the time you’re done, no one will ever be able to guess you have DIY countertops.

Our countertop epoxy resin kit is an affordable alternative to stone countertops that is highly durable and prone to far less damage—such as chipping, scratching, or staining—than natural stone. The epoxy resin hardens into a solid surface designed to withstand years of dropped pans, dragged pots, and food spillage and still maintain its luster. Should the epoxy countertops start to dull over time, you can easily restore their shine with our polishing kit to make them look as good as new.

The marble epoxy gallon kits come in a range of sizes, from ½ a gallon to 4 gallons, so you can tackle a home project of any size. And, since Stone Coat countertop epoxy is designed with DIYers in mind, we’ve provided how-to videos and step-by-step instructions to ensure your projects are truly as easy to complete as possible. We have step by step pdf's, videos of our full process as well as a training center where we have steps broken out for tutorials in short digestible pieces to make you an epoxy countertop pro.
